Neuse River Golden Retriever Resue is proud to host the 3rd Annual Dog Day 5K to benefit shelters and rescues in eastern North Carolina.
Competitive runners will appreciate the paved trails of Lake Benson and White Deer Parks and competitive runners looking for a bigger challenge can run with their dog! Recreational runners and walkers will enjoy a beautiful fall morning in Garner's beautiful parks.
All well behaved, socialized dogs are welcome, must be leashed at all times and cleaned up after (bags and waste receptacles along the course).
The Dog Day 5K is a family-friendly fundraising event with competitive (timed) and recreational runs or walks, a Kids Dash (5 and under 50 yds, 6-8 100 yds, 9-12 200yds) for fun and prizes and even a way to support our great work from the comfort of your couch!
Competitive events will be issued chips, receive times and be eligible for prizes.
The 5K will begin and end at Shelter #1 in Lake Benson Park. The course includes portions of the South Garner Greenway, White Deer Loop and Lake Benson Loop.
