The Historic Half course will offer a constant change of scenery. One minute you are in beautiful downtown Wake Forest, then running past various neighborhoods representing the different generations of growth this area has seen. Before you know it you are exploring Joyner Park running through the natural topography of this secret gem. Half way to the finish line you'll find yourself in the streets of the historic district with home that have been around for over 100 years as the course winds you thought the sites of the original location of Wake Forest University before you cross the finish line completing this fantastic course.
The 3 mile course leads you past the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminiary campus then lead you to though downtown Wake Forest, before you head past some of the town's beautiful neighborhoods back to the finish line.
The 1.3 mile course takes you on a tour around the lovely Southesstern Baptisti Theological Seminiary campus before leading you though the finish line.
Time Limit
The roads will NOT be closed for this event, and to ensure the safety of all athletes and volunteers, the time limit for the half marathon is 3:00 hours. This is approximately a 15 min. pace and will have all participants back at the finish line by 10:30 AM. Any runners on the half marathon course after 10:30AM will be picked up by a sweeper van and taken back to the start/finish line area.
If you choose to not be picked up by the sweeper van, you will no longer be considered a race participants and will be required to follow pedestrian laws. Official times, medals, course and post-race amenities cannot be guaranteed for runners who are not picked up and returned to the finish line.
Pace Runners will be on the course to help get you to your goal finish time. Pace times are TBD.
Awards**:
3 mile: Top 3 overall male and female*, Top 3 masters male and female*
Top three age groups: 8 and under; 9-11; 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 35-39, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-over.
Half Marathon:
Top 3 overall male and female *, Top 3 masters male and female*
Top three age groups: 12-14,15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-over.
*Overall winners from the above categories are not eligible for age group awards.
**Award Finishers can pick up awards at results area.
