Overview

Southeastern 5K
Come out and join us Saturday, February 29, 2020 (9:00-11:00am)

Join us for our annual Southeastern 5K taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Wake Forest, NC. This timed race will start on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and wind its way through Wake Forest’s charming downtown and the scenic Historic District before finishing in front of the field of Patterson Hall on the campus of Southeastern.

The Southeastern 5K will be a fun winter walk/run for you and friends to enjoy. Help us get word out and kick off the inaugural Southeastern 5K in style by following us on Twitter, Instagram, and liking the race FB page. The official hashtag is #SE5K.


Please make sure to register by Tuesday, January 13 to receive a free Southeastern 5k t-shirt and medal!
UPDATE: Due to the coronavirus, we are unable to provide medals this year. Thank you for understanding!
**This race is dog- friendly and stroller-friendly! All dogs must be on a leash!

About GTI

This year's race will raise money for Southeastern’s Global Theological Initiative (GTI). The Global Theological Initiative seeks to employ the resources of SEBTS to benefit theological education around the world. Our goal is to develop indigenous leaders who are capable of equipping other leaders within their context. GTI develops indigenous leaders who are capable of equipping other leaders within their contexts. We accomplish this by consulting and equipping with partners of existing entities as well as creating new opportunities in areas where theological education is lacking. The proceeds from this race will help support for specific, cross-cultural theological education opportunities around the world. It’s a great way to challenge yourself while giving to a global cause. 

Event Schedule

7:30am: Registration Opens + Packet Pickup
 *All pre-registered participants will recieve 2020 Southeastern 5K Swag!*

9:00am: 5K Race Begins

10:00am: Finish Line Closes
*The race will begin and end at the entrance to the Patternson Hall Field. 

Post- race refreshments and coffee will be provided.

FAQs

What if there is bad weather?
The Southeastern 2020 5K will run rain or shine. In the case of lightning or other “severe” weather, the event will either be delayed or cancelled all together. This event will be
 held rain, shine or snow. In the case of significantly inclement weather (i.e. lightning in the area), we reserve the right to alter components of the event or course to address safety concerns, or potentially delay, postpone or cancel the event. In a situation where the event must be cancelled, there will be no refunds of entry fees. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee. We promise to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event.

Are there REFUNDS?
There are no refunds for this event. If for some reason you can't make it to race day, at least come to check in, pick up your 5k swag, and say hi to us!

Will you hold my rewards or 5k swag if I cannot make the event?
No, we will not hold any rewards or swag. If you are not there to pick them up, we will give them away to other participants. 


Can I register on race day?
Yes, but we will only accept cash or check payments. 

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, but you need to be sure to email Catherine Blinson (cblinson@sebts.edu), the event coordinator, and tell her your first and last name and the first and last name of the person picking up the packet for you. 

Do I have to pay for parking?
No, parking is free. To see where you can park, check out the parking information tab under location on our website.
