Overview

140 (Raleigh) or the 100-mile Bike Ride from Benson to Wilmington as part of 2023 Reach the Beach!

Enjoy your Saturday with a 140 (starts at Apex Community Center) or 100-mile bike ride from the Dr. P.K. Vyas MD Community Park at 401 S Elm St, Benson, NC 27504 to downtown Wilmington, unwind at Waterline Brewing Company, and meet up with other friends to enjoy the rest of the weekend at the beach!  We encourage our participants to make arrangements to meet friends and family there and spend the night to make the most of this fun weekend!  

We have also added the 2-person relay team, so buddy up and split the ride in half (and also have a ride back home)

Basics of the Event
The bike event presented by Inside-Out Sports will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024.  The 140 mile ride will begin at Apex Community Center and you will need to arrive in Benson by 8:15 am where you will start the next 100 miles at 8:30 am. The 100 mile ride will begin in Downtown Benson, just 30 miles outside of the Triangle.  Riders will depart at 8:30am and follow roads through rural North Carolina to Wilmington.  The route, almost exclusively on 421, will end in historic downtown Wilmington.  

All riders must complete the 140 or 100-mile route and check in at the finish by 5:30 pm (9 hours after the start). Riders will be able to meet this schedule if they average at least a 14 mph pace and stop for no more than 1 hour and 25 minutes throughout the ride.  A support vehicle will remove riders from the course that are unable to complete in the designated time.

Food and refreshments will be provided before the ride, at 2 water stops, and at the conclusion of the ride.  There will be a post-event party at Waterline Brewing Company with a free beer for all event participants.

The registration fee includes the following:
  • Light breakfast at the event start
  • Supported water stops available 2 locations
  • Food at the post-event party
  • Free beer after the event for all participants complements of Waterline Brewing Company.
  • Full bicycle mechanic support as needed at the start and throughout the ride  

Weather Factors
This event will occur rain or shine.  If the event must be cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions or other situations beyond our control, an alternative date will be established and all registrations will be transferred to the subsequent date.  Unfortunately, we can not offer refunds.

ONLINE REGISTRATION will remain open through Saturday morning and close 15 minutes before the event

All riders must check in at the ride start by 8:15 am.
