We are looking forward to seeing everyone on race day--Sunday, September 19th! See below schedule.
8:00 a.m. - Registration and packet pick-up inside PNC Arena on the main concourse behind the box office
9:15 a.m. - Pre-race ceremony and introduction of Carolina Hurricanes players
9:30 a.m. - Canes 5k presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic
10:00 a.m. - Post-race breakfast for all participants, compliments of the Carolina Hurricanes and PNC Arena
10:30 a.m. - 100-Yard and 200-Yard Caniac Kids Dashes
10:35 a.m. - Award ceremony and drawing for raffle prizes

Practice Runs
A practice run will be hosted at PNC Arena prior to the Canes 5k, giving registered or interested participants the opportunity to run the course and get a feel for race day. Please check back for the practice run date and time or feel free to safely check out the course on your own!

Race Awards and Prizes
Awards and prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female runners and the top male and female runners from each age group. To spread the love, overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Race winners will be determined by gun time. Age group winners will be determined by chip time.

Overall Winners
- Overall winner will a $1,000 gift card to PNC Arena, which can be used to purchase Canes tickets or other event tickets, and food and beverage. Plus the overall winner will receive a unique trophy!
- The top three (3) overall male & female runners will receive:
- 1st place (male/female) - four tickets to a mutually-agreed upon game & a team-signed jersey
- 2nd place (male/female) - two tickets to a mutually-agreed upon game & a team-signed hockey stick
- 3rd place (male/female) - two tickets to a mutually-agreed upon game & a signed puck

FAQs
Where do I go when arriving for the race?
Upon arrival at PNC Arena, you will be directed by parking attendants to the appropriate parking lots. Parking is free. If you need to sign up for the race or pick up your packet, please enter PNC Arena next to the box office and follow the signs. If you picked up your packet prior to race day, the pre-race ceremony will begin at 9:15 a.m. followed by the race at 9:30 a.m.
Can I sign up for the Canes 5k on the day of the race?
Yes! On Sept. 19, individuals can sign up starting at 8:00 a.m. Interested participants should enter PNC Arena next to the box office and follow the signs. Registration will close 10-15 minutes before the race at 9:30 a.m.
We will accept cash, credit cards, or check. The cost for the 5k on the day of the race is $50, and the Caniac Kids Dashes will be $20. Checks should be made out to the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.
Online registration closes on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 11:59 p.m.
How and when do I pick up my packet?
You will have several opportunities to pick up your packet. There will be packet pick-up sessions at PNC Arena during the below times. When picking up during these times, participants can park and enter through the VIP Entrance at PNC Arena
On race day, Sunday, Sept. 19, participants can enter PNC Arena by the box office to pick up their packet.
Where will the Carolina Hurricanes team and staff be?
Pending any NHL mandated COVID protocols and availability members of the team and front office staff will be introduced at 9:15 a.m. on stage during the pre-race ceremony.
Will I be timed during the race?
Yes, all 5k participants will have a timing chip placed on their bib.
Will there be water on the course?
There will be a water station located around the 1.25 mile mark, 2.75 mile mark, and at the finish line. Participants are allowed to bring their own source of water and/or sport drink.
Can I run with a stroller or a dog?
Yes, baby Caniacs and Furricanes are welcome to join! Please start towards the back of the crowd.
Can family and friends attend the race?
Yes, the event is open to the public and friends & family are welcome to come and cheer you on!
Is the post-race breakfast for the public?
No, the post-race breakfast is for 5k participants only. Another great reason to sign-up!
