5 Reasons You Should be Trail Running

Training out on the trail may seem a bit too casual, after all, serious runners should be out on the track or measured road courses where you can keep track of your pace and time and compare the efforts, right?

The truth is that for both new and experienced runners, trail running offers a number of benefits that can help you enjoy your running more, protect yourself from injuries, and even improve your race times on the roads and on the track. Check out this Active article on why you should be hitting the trails!

Race starts at 9:00 am

The 10 mile (new course) and 5 mile (1 loop) course will be at the beautiful Harris Lake Park just 15 minutes south of Raleigh!  The course will start on pavement then quickly hit the single track for the remander of the run.  The run will feature beautiful views of Harris Lake in the chilly winter!

The 680-acre park is situated on a peninsula near the Shearon Harris Reservoir in New Hill, N.C. – and is convenient to Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. Indulge your senses as you tour the brightly colored sensory garden, take your bike out on the Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail, play a round of disc golf with friends or spend a quiet afternoon fishing at Harris Lake County Park.
