Welcome to our 5th annual Day of the Dead 5k happening Saturday, October 24th. Once again, we have partnered with the wonderful folks at the Brentwood Boy & Girls Club who continue to do an incredible job of providing after school activities for the Latin American community. Every year more and more club members get to participate in the race thanks to our “Sponsor a little runner” program where $25 dollars can contribute to pay a member’s entry fee. During the last four years we have had over 2,000 runners and have been able to contribute over $35K to the Boys & Girls Club.
The event has grown into a festival where music, food and art will honor life and dead. This year the race will continue with a noon start and all the festivities will until 3:00pm. We will have two altars one at Oakwood cemetery and one on Wilmington Street where people will be able to do offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones. There will be art, food and local beer as part of the celebration, and yes there will be our famouse dance-off costume contest. Dress up and join us for an amazing fun time.
