TrySports Mayo Lake Triathlon

Race Description

Camp, canoe, kayak, picnic or fish at the 2800-acre lake with 85 miles of shoreline and a 120-acre park. Walk or hike the trails featuring plant identification plaques for self-guided tours. Guided interpretive hikes are provided during summer. Rent a cabin, stay overnight enjoy the sunrise. Check out our map and plan your trip now!

The park is located off Hwy. 49 north of Roxboro on Neal's Store Road (SR 1515). For a map, brochure, or reservations, call Person County Parks and Recreation at 336-597-1755 or visit the web site at http://recreation.personcounty.net  

The swim will be in Mayo Lake, a fingered lake north of Roxboro. The swim start is around .2 of a mile from the transition area.  You will want to bring some shoes along to walk over to the swim start.  The water is sheltered and smooth.

The bike course will use all right hand turns and feature rolling hills in Person County.  The pavement is mostly smooth and you will pass over the lake twice, for a scenic ride.

The run course is a trail run in Mayo Lake Park. The trail will feature multiple footing to include gravel, single track and wide track.  Water stations are provided at .5 and 1.5 mile mark on the run. The finish line is located next to the community center..

The race course revolves around a transition area next to the Mayo Park Amphitheater. The same transition area will be used for all phases. The transition area will open at 6am; ALL bikes need to be placed in position before the transition area closes at 7:45am.

The last day to register online for the TrySports Mayo Lake Triathlon is Tuesday, August 3, 2010. On-site registration may be available if this event is not full, but your best bet is to register online.

A $10.00 fee (for USAT race day insurance) will be added if you are not a USAT member.

Packet Pickup

Thursday, August 5, from 5-7 pm at TrySports Crabtree Valley Mall.

Friday, August 6, from 5-6 pm at Mayo Lake Park  Community Center.

Participant pre-race meeting - Friday, August 6 at 6 pm at Mayo Lake Park Community Center.

Race Day from 6:30-7:30 am at Mayo Lake Park Community Center.

Refund, Transfer and Weather Policy

REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until July 24th, 2010. No refunds will be issued for any reason after July 24th, 2010. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below.

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather the following procedures will be followed:
1. The event will be postponed until 8:45AM in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
2. If inclement weather does not pass by 8:45AM, the event will be changed to a duathlon format.
3. If a duathlon is not possible, the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2011 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
4. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend, a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2011 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
