"Swim Times: All participants must submit a 100 meter swim time
for seeding purposes. Being a pool swim with a staggered start, participants are seeded from fastest to slowest. If you know any previous swim time from a practice, race, etc., we have supplied a distance calculator next to your estimated swim time. By seeding yourself properly, you'll end up swimming near people who swim the same pace as you. This will reduce the number of people who you will need to pass or the number of people who will be passing you."

 

Race Description

SRAC

This is the first year that the 3 Little Pigs Triathlon has been held. The swim is in the new Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center in Smithfield, and is a 250 yards pool swim. The bike course takes you from the SRAC into rural Johnston County on a scenic, but flat course. The run course is an out-and-back course that will take you through Smithfield’s community park and onto its new Buffalo Creek Greenway and back to SRAC.

The last day to register online for the 3 Little Pigs Triathlon is Wednesday, June 16, 2010. On-site registration may be available if this event is not full, but your best bet is to register online.

A $10.00 fee (for USAT race day insurance) will be added if you are not a USAT member.

Race Day Information

2010 Race information Sheets!  Please print out the race information sheets and course maps online. Sheets and maps will not be available at the race site.

Parking will be available at both the Smithfield Community Park and Smithfield-Selma Senior High School, both of which are located adjacent to SRAC. However, those wishing to park in the Community Park (which is slightly closer) will need to be parked by 7:45 a.m. and will not be allowed to leave until approximately 10:45 a.m. when the race finishes.

 

Packet Pickup

Friday - June 18 from 6-8 pm.

Pre-race meeting will be Friday June 18th at 7 pm.  The meeting is not required but will go over race and course logistics.  Participants will meet at the transition area.

Saturday- June 19 from 6:30-7:30 am.

Relays - Athletes can register as a relay team for the triathlon. Teams are composed of three members, each doing one event; the swim, bike or run. Teams can be composed of two members, one person will just have to register for two events

All funds raised during the event will be split between the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department and the Rotary Club of Central Johnston County.

Refund, Transfer and Weather Policy

REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until June 5th, 2010. No refunds will be issued for any reason after June 5th, 2010. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below.

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather the following procedures will be followed:
1. The event will be postponed until 7:45AM in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
2. If inclement weather does not pass by 7:45AM, the event will be changed to a duathlon format.
3. If a duathlon is not possible, the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2011 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
4. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend, a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2010 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
