750 meter open water swim
10.5 mile bike
3.1 mile runFriday 4/16 water temp. is 65.
Wetsuit Rentals available through Inside-Out Sports! More details>>
The swim will be in Lake Raleigh on Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University. The swim temperature will be around 65 to 70 degrees and wetsuit legal. To reduce congestion athletes will be seeded by swim time and a matstart will take place off the dock. The bike is a one loop, rolling course that will start off on campus and quickly head into SW Raleigh before returning to the transition area. The run course is around Centennial Campus and will be split between pavement and sidewalk. Water stations will be located at the .5 and 2 mile mark. The finish line is across the street from the transition area. The race course revolves around a transition area next to Centennial Plaza. The same transition area will be used for all phases. The transition area will open at 6am; ALL bikes need to be placed in position before the transition area closes at 7:45am.
Swim Times:
All participants must submit a 100 meter swim time for seeding purposes. Lake Raleigh is a small lake so the swim will be a time trial start, where participants are seeded from fastest to slowest with each person stepping on the mat at the edge of the dock. If you know any previous swim time from a practice, race, etc., we have supplied a distance calculator next to your estimated swim time. By seeding yourself properly, you'll end up swimming near people who swim the same pace as you. This will reduce the number of people who you will need to pass or the number of people who will be passing you.
