Race Description

On Friday, September 16, 2011, the 3rd Buddy Run and food drive will bring our friends and neighbors together to help feed children right here in our community!

This year our race will feature a 3.1-mile run through Heritage Wake Forest, mostly on a greenway behind Heritage Wake Forest, in addition to new 2-mile Roller Run (for scooters and skates) and our standard 1-mile family walk and a 50’ish yard itty-bitty-buddy-dash.
In collaboration with Wake Forest Elementary School, Rolesville Baptist Church and Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, proceeds from this event are divided among the Rolesville, Wake Forest, and Wakefield Backpack Buddy and Track Out Tummy programs. Together over 200 children are fed!

1037 Marshall Farm, Wake Forest behind the Heritage View pool

What:

50’ish meter Itty Bitty Buddy Dash for runners 6 and under
1-mile Family Walk (untimed)
2-mile Roller Run for roller skaters, bladers, boarders and scooter-ers of all ages  (no bikes please)
3.1 chip-timed course through Heritage Wake Forest Two and on a Wake Forest greenway/trail
Race-weekend food drive
An evening of fun, fitness, friends, family and feeding hungry children in our schools

It is our hope that we will be able to donate 100% of our entry fees directly to the local Backpack Buddies programs!

Buddy Run 5k Pricing:

Individual: $20.00

After 09/13/2011
Individual: $25.00

The last day to register online for the Buddy Run 5k is Tuesday, September 13, 2011. On-site registration may be available if this event is not full, but your best bet is to register online.

 

Race Day Information

We will have a donation truck setup on race day and are asking people to bring a pre-packaged, easy-to-open, non-perishable food item that is appropriate and healthy for small children. This is a great way to get kids involved in community service. Let them pick out their favorite (healthy) food item and give that to a child who is truly hungry!

Parking is available at the Harris Teeter parking lot on Rogers Road and Heritage Lakes Drive. If you live in Heritage Wake Forest please try to walk or ride your bike to this event and save parking for those traveling to our neighborhood.

Race day timeline

· 4:00 pm Packet pickup & food drive begin
· 6:00 pm 2-mile Roller Run
· 6:05 pm 1-mile Family Walk
· 6:30 pm 3.1 chip-timed run
· 7:30 pm Awards
· 5 -8pm: Block party (bounce house, face painting, and food for purchase)

 

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be Thursday from 4-6pm and Friday from 4-6pm.
