Packet Pickup Requirements: 

Each person participating in the race must pickup their own race packet. You are required to present a valid driver’s license and a valid USA Triathlon card. If you paid the one day fee online then you only need to bring your driver’s license. Each member of the relay team must pickup his or her own packet and sign a release waiver.

NO DRIVERS LICENSE, NO VALID USA TRIATHLON CARD (unless you paid one day fee) - NO RACE!

Bring Your Family!

We are back again for 2014, still looking to improve on last year. Please bring your family with you to the race this year. We’ll have the splash pool open for the kids after the last athlete finishes the swim. And of course the playground next to the finish area is a great place for the kids to play. The jumpoline and the misting tent will be back again. We also plan on having face painting for the kids.

All funds raised during the event will be split between the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department and the Rotary Club of Central Johnston County.

 

Race Description

SRAC

This is the 5th year that the 3 Little Pigs Triathlon has been held. The swim is in the new Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center in Smithfield, and is a 250 yards pool swim. The bike course takes you from the SRAC into rural Johnston County on a scenic, but flat course. The run course is an out-and-back course that will take you through Smithfield’s community park and onto its new Buffalo Creek Greenway and back to SRAC.

Swim Times: All participants must submit a 100 meter swim time
for seeding purposes. Being a pool swim with a staggered start, participants are seeded from fastest to slowest. If you know any previous swim time from a practice, race, etc., we have supplied a distance calculator next to your estimated swim time. By seeding yourself properly, you'll end up swimming near people who swim the same pace as you. This will reduce the number of people who you will need to pass or the number of people who will be passing you.

The last day to register online for the 3 Little Pigs Sprint Triathlon is Tuesday, June 10, 2014. On-site registration may be available if this event is not full, but your best bet is to register online.

A fee for USAT race day insurance will be added if you are not a USAT member ($12.00 for adults, $10.00 for ages 17 and under).

 

Race Day Information

Parking will be available at both the Smithfield Community Park and Smithfield-Selma Senior High School, both of which are located adjacent to SRAC. However, those wishing to park in the Community Park (which is slightly closer) will need to be parked by 7:15 a.m. and will not be allowed to leave until approximately 10:30 a.m. when the race finishes.

We will not be providing race maps or info sheets at packet pickup. Please print this info out if you need detailed race info!

Friday - June 13th from 6-8 pm.

Pre-race meeting will be Friday, June 13th at 7 pm.  The meeting is not required but will go over race and course logistics.  Participants will meet at the transition area.

Saturday - June 14th from 6:00-7:00 am.

Race Categories

Athletes may register as male or female aged:

15 & Under

Special Divisions include:

Athena - Females over 165 lbs.
Master Athena - Females over 165 lbs. and age 40 and above.
Clydesdale - Males over 220 lbs.
Master Clydesdale - Males over 220 lbs. and age 40 and above.
Master Male and Female - age 40 and above.
Relays - Athletes can register as a 2 or 3 person relay team for the triathlon.  2 person relay teams - one person will do two events and one person will do one event.  3 person relay teams - each person will do one event; the swim, bike or run.

*Masters classification award winners will be automatically selected from the top participants and do not require you to specifically register for them. Being awarded a Masters award will not affect points available to you in the FS Series Points competition.

Refund, Transfer and Weather Policy

REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until June 1st, 2014. No refunds will be issued for any reason after June 1st, 2014. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below.

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather the following procedures will be followed:
1. The event will be postponed until 8:15AM in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
2. If inclement weather does not pass by 8:15AM, the event will be changed to a duathlon format.
3. If a duathlon is not possible, the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2015 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
4. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend, a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2015 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
